SubioMed chooses Moticon OpenGo for R&D phase of walking assist device

Owatonna podiatrist Dr. Barry Butler invented a technology to help patients walk more naturally after foot or ankle surgery. Bloomington based startup SubioMed is now developing a line of hinged carbon-fiber devices worn on the bottom of a cast or inside a “boot” brace that use a springline mechanism.

The company also sees a broader consumer market for non-customized, off-the-shelf versions of the bendy devices in the future.

SubioMed plans to pair the device with the Insole3 sensor insoles made by German manufacturer Moticon and is now using the sensor products to evaluate the device in clinical environments.
